Mushroom Inoculation Workshop and
Mycoremediation of Soil
w/ Tradd Cotter
This event is taking place alongside our saw mill class with Treehouse Trade School, who Tradd partnered with this year to synergize the elements of permaculture and mycology!
Don't toss your downed trees. Before someone takes them away join Tradd for a 2 hour hands on workshop on how to use every part of a downed tree for gourmet and medicinal mushroom production.
We will be discussing recycling and composting with fungi, how to cultivate on logs, large downed trunks, stumps and wood chips. Mycoremediation of water and soil, including construction material and debris will also be covered to improve devastated habitats.
Every participant will receive a mushroom starter culture to take home!

Tradd Cotter presents on Magical Mushrooms, Molds, and Mycorrhizae: Down the Rabbit Hole
“Down the Rabbit Hole" is a fun and educational presentation covering an
assortment of mycological topics and ideas based on Tradd's previous and future work. Come listen to the latest research and what may be on the horizon involving fungi and civilization. Open your mind and heart to the Kingdom Fungi! From cultivation to building materials and mycoremediation to psychedelic mushroom research, Tradd has explored almost every application with fungi. Other topics in the presentation will include antibiotic research, advancing mycopesticide opportunities to replace chemical pesticides and astromycology.
Meet the Teacher
Tradd Cotter is a microbiologist, professional mycologist, and retired landscape designer who has been cultivating mushrooms both commercially and experimentally for more than thirty years and featured in the film "FANTASTIC FUNGI". He is the author of the best-selling book Organic Mushroom Farming and Mycoremediation (2014) and has won numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious 2013 Clemson University Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the 2011 EPA GRO-U Fellowship Award, and the 2021 Gary Lincoff Award at the Telluride Mushroom Festival. His ongoing research projects include bacterial interactions with fungi, mycopesticides, novel antibiotic discovery, and the isolation of native mycorrhizal species for bioregional-specific inoculants for plants. In 2022, Tradd sold Mushroom Mountain, which he founded in 1996, to pursue his interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy and to focus on research in the medical field. Tradd currently is co-owner of Blue Portal, a mycologically-focused company specializing in psychedelic therapy and cultivation, medicinal innovations, and industrial applications for fungi.
